At the seventh leg of VLN championship at the Nürburgring Alexander Toril and his teammate Tim Scheerbarth took the victory in division SP7 with BLACK FALCON Team TMD Friction´s Porsche 911 GT3 Cup BF. For the Spaniard it was the fourth win during this season after two consecutive retirements.
“On the one hand I´m really happy about finishing the race and even taking the victory after the last races where we weren´t lucky. We showed some good performance and that we work well together as a team. On the other hand, the new car wasn´t easy to drive and we aren´t satisfied with the setup. We´ll work on the issues for the next race and will hopefully come back even stronger in three weeks”, Toril summarised.
In qualifying of VLN´s only six-hours-race – the highlight of the series´ season – Toril and Scheerbarth were beaten by one competitor of their SP7 division. Under perfect weather conditions Scheerbarth started the race behind the wheel and pressured the pole setter during his stint. After a flawless ride Toril jumped into the cockpit of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup BF and managed to take over the lead during the stint when the leaders struggled with their tires. Still in front the drivers changed again and Scheerbarth held the lead. After two more driver changes and a total of six-hours distance Scheerbarth crossed the line on a good eleventh position overall and with more than one-minute advantage of the next competitor in SP7.
Therefore, Alexander Toril also wins the second season highlight during his first Nordschleife focused season after taking the victory in class SP7 at the infamous 24-hours-race at the Nürburgring back in May.
The next VLN race will be held on the 24th of September. As always you can follow the 48. ADAC Barbarossapreis live on the internet over the full distance of four hours.
